Calling cards – PIN and PINless
Calling card services represent a type of low cost calling widely used by a variety of consumers in various regions. These VoIP services are especially popular among mobile phone users, as an alternative to mobile operators’ outrageously high international rates and roaming fees. The main advantages are ease of use and service availability not being limited to IP network coverage and quality.
VoipSwitch is a calling card software platform that enables providing a full range of calling card services including PIN-less dialing and printed phone cards. Its billing system is equipped with sophisticated and yet flexible charging functions supporting all kinds of special charges and service fees.
It is another reliable way of making cheap calls through PSTN, similar to the Calling cards. The difference is that a user only triggers the callback, e.g. by sending an SMS or calling a service number, and then disconnecting; the system then calls the user back. The next steps are the same as in the Calling cards. A user, guided by the Interactive Voice Response system, dials the destination number.
Residential VoIP telephony
The VoipSwitch platform provides a complete suite of VoIP backend elements that enable providers to offer cutting edge next generation residential telephony services. The term means not only full replacement of landlines but also bringing to use the experience of unified communication with support for video, HD audio, mobility and the advanced self care web portal to name just a few of the main features.
Consumers can communicate using IP phones, newer generations of which support instant messaging and video conferencing. When on the move they can be reachable on their smartphones or tablets or they can sign in to a PC or MAC softphone and enjoy its versatility. And all this using the same account shared on multiple devices.
VoipSwitch’s converged billing allows offering different products such as subscriptions, monthly plans, one time plans – bundles of minutes to certain destinations – and much more. When an account is depleted an autorecharge function will automatically top up the account using a credit card or PayPal or other payment methods chosen by the user. Through the self care Portal the user can then change their account settings, upgrade a subscribed plan or order a phone number from virtually any place in the world.
In Over The Top services the goal is to reach a broad customer base, not limited to particular regions. Hence the need for efficient media flow handling. VoipSwitch supports ICE and TURN technology ensuring that the media path is peer to peer whenever possible.
Direct Inward Dialling (DID)/virtual phone numbers
A complimentary feature to residential VoIP. Consumers can order geographical phone numbers from various locations. The system works with all the biggest DID wholesale providers thus enabling automated ordering and management of numbers through web APIs.
Mobile VoIP and RCS
In recent times, along with a surge in the smartphones market, mobile VoIP has received a lot of attention as a real threat to GSM text and voice services. Next generation services, encompassed by the term Rich Communication Suite, are being deployed by OTT providers and target users globally.
Free calling and texting between users is now expected, as are additional features like video calling, multimedia sharing, geolocation, push and group chat. A provider can still earn on termination to non-users (offnet numbers) for both voice and sms, and can also offer phone numbers and additional paid services.
VoipSwitch offers a solution which provides RCS nodes serving all the most sought after consumer features. They work in connection with the main softswitch core and its application servers.
In addition, the whole system can be integrated with 3rd party softswitches and billing systems in order to retain existing user accounts and billing.
